Gulf of Mexico Fishing Seasons and Information

With its relatively warm subtropical waters, the Gulf of Mexico offers good fishing conditions year round. 
The fishing season in Orange Beach generally runs from April until November, and different months of the
year mean different fish are biting. Below you will find a table that will let you know when the fish are biting.
 

 
       
  February Capt. George and The CAT are in Venice, LA fishing for tuna offshore. Tuna Caught on The CAT in Louisiana  
  March Capt. George and The CAT are in Venice, LA bringing in the big tuna. Cobia season starts. Sight-fishing as we ride along the shore for the aggressive and hard-fighting cobia, aka ling or lemonfish. VERY EXCITING! Action CAT Charter Cobia  
  April April means Cobia along the Alabama Gulf Coast.  Sight-fishing as you ride along the shore looking for the aggressive and hard fighting cobia, aka ling, or lemon fish.  Cobia fishing is very exciting.  Spanish mackerel and King mackerel start to move into our waters. Offshore for Tuna & Amberjack picks up. Grouper is always available. Amberjack Caught on The CAT  
  May Bottom fishing is good and the weather is perfect! Snapper, Grouper, Trigger, Amberjack, and Wahoo action heats up. Red Snapper season opens on May 15th.  Be sure to book your trip early so you can get the day(s) you want to fish. Red Snapper Caught on The CAT  
  June The best month for Marlin, Tuna, Dolphin, Wahoo action offshore. Trolling for King & Spanish is great. Wahoo Caught on The CAT  
  July Good bottom fishing for Grouper, Wahoo & Amberjack. Awesome offshore trolling for Dolphin & Tuna. Little Girl on The CAT  
  August Not uncommon to have flat, calm seas for days; great for offshore fishing. Offshore Sunset on The CAT  
  September Fall fishing heats up inshore. Snapper, Grouper, and Triggerfish move closer to shore.  Red Snapper Caught on The CAT  
  October An excellent time for fishing. The weather is perfect and the fish are closer to shore.
